This 4-hour first aid course covers basic life saving techniques such as resuscitation, mouth to mouth and recovery position. It is ideal for
staff who need training in basic life support.

Who is the course for?
This course is ideal for anyone who wants a basic understanding of First Aid. This includes staff in care homes, schools, nurseries, chefs, waiting
staff, contract caterers, prisons, voluntary organisations etc This course is not recognised by the HSE.
For those who would like HSE recognised qualification the one-day Emergency Aid at Work and 3-day First
Aid at Work courses are also available.

How long does the course last?

How is the course assessed?
Continual assessment throughout the course by the tutor and a multiple choice assessment paper will be given at the end of the session. Successful
candidates gaining 10 correct answers out of 15 will be awarded a Basic First Aid certificate.
The assessment can take place orally for those who have difficulties reading or writing.

How long is the certificate valid for?
3 years.
In October 2009 the requirements for first aid training in the workplace changed. All our courses comply with the new changes.
