All staff who handle food for the public are required to have the appropriate level of training under UK food regulations. This accredited level 2 course is ideal for all staff involved in preparing and serving food and covers the main principles of food safety. This newly revised, accredited course takes 3 hours or 6 hours (see below). It is accepted by inspecting organisations as evidence of food hygiene training.

It goes into more depth than the 3-hour Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

Who is the course for?

This Level 2 Food Safety course is ideal for all who prepare and serve food for the public and would like an accredited qualification. The syllabus is approved by Environmental Health Officers.

A 3-hour Basic Food Hygiene Certificate course is also available and is ideal for most staff working in hospitality, care, education, nurseries, prisons and voluntary groups. It is also accepted by inspecting bodies as evidence of food hygiene training.

How will the course be assessed?

A multiple choice assessment paper. An accredited 'Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety' is awarded to everyone who achieves at least 20 marks out of 30. For anyone with reading or writing difficulties, the assessment can be taken orally. Many foreign languages can be catered for. The course is accredited by Qualifi, one of the leading awarding bodies for qualifications.

Our awarding bodies require that all people taking the exam need to provide the original photo ID. (e.g. passport, driving licence, work pass).

How long will the certificate be valid for?

3 years.
