In 2007/2008 the most commonly reported workplace accidents and illness involved injuries caused by manual handling.
This course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and accepted by major inspecting bodies such as HSE, CIEH and
CQC.

Who is the course for?
This qualification will benefit all employees, so that they understand the risks associated with manual handling and apply the principles of safer handling
to their work.
A 3 hour Basic Manual Handling course is
also available.
A 6-hour 'Moving and Handling People' course is available if your role involves assisting or moving people.

How is the course assessed?
On successful completion of a practical and multiple choice assessment paper, candidates will be awarded a Level 2 Award in Manual Handling – Principles
and Practice from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
The assessment can take place orally for those who have difficulties reading or writing. Many foreign languages can be catered for.
CIEH now require that all people taking the exam need to provide the original photo ID. (e.g. passport, driving licence, work pass).
